Tomorrow's Game by Kenn Marshall In-Person

The book Tomorrow's Game captures the essence of baseball as a vessel for cherished memories. It begins with a young boy, dreaming of becoming a major leaguer while throwing a rubber ball against his porch, emulating legends like Roberto Clemente and Bill Mazeroski. As he matures, his passion for the sport drives him to visit every major league ballpark, sharing these adventures with his family. The narrative vividly recounts his first game at Forbes Field, where he witnessed a thrilling Pirates victory -- including a Mazeroski home run -- and the playful chaos of his backyard "Field of Dreams," filled with mud and flames.

The story also delves into his experiences as a Pirates intern, where he encounters colorful personalities, including a grumpy Dave Parker and the comedic "Squiggy" from Laverne and Shirley. Family road trips to iconic stadiums are enriched by delightful detours to quirky attractions, such as a small Illinois town with oversized landmarks and a diner famous for its "mile high pie."

No baseball experience is complete without the iconic hot dog, and Tomorrow's Game celebrates the unique varieties found at each stadium, from the legendary "Dodger Dog" to a surprising Cleveland creation topped with mac and cheese and Froot Loops.

This narrative is a nostalgic exploration of baseball, family connections, and the joy of shared experiences, embodying the spirit of Americana throughout its pages.

Kenn Marshall dedicated his career to journalism and communication. After starting as a part-time sportswriter while attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania, he spent nearly 20 years as a newspaper reporter – including more than a dozen at The Patriot-News – before becoming press secretary for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. Retiring in 2019, he has been a lifelong baseball fan, playing and watching the game with family. Growing up in western Pennsylvania, he idolized Roberto Clemente and wrote about the Pittsburgh Pirates, covering the 1979 World Series. In June 2024, he achieved his goal of attending a game in every major league stadium. Tomorrow's Game is his first book.
