Krakatoa - The Loudest Sound on Earth In-Person

In 1883 a volcano blew up in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra, Indonesia. The explosion created a deadly tsunami with waves over a hundred feet high. One hundred sixty-five coastal villages and settlements were swept away and entirely destroyed. Well over 36,000 died. This is a look at what caused it … and what’s next! The presentation is led by Lou Thieblemont, former TWA and American Airlines Captain (retired) and Resident Astronomer for Viking Cruises.
