Event Information
Story Time In-Person
Story Time is a fun and engaging program designed to help children ages 4 - 6 prepare for or adjust to kindergarten. These sessions include a lively mix of interactive and educational activities that support early literacy, social skills, and fine motor development in a fun entertaining environment.
Here’s what a typical session might include:
📚 Stories
Age-appropriate books that focus on our summer learning program, "Unearth a Story."
🎵 Songs
Simple, repetitive songs that build language skills, rhythm, and memory. Songs often include movement to help children practice following directions and participating in a group.
✋ Finger Plays
Short, interactive rhymes using hand motions. Finger plays strengthen fine motor skills and coordination while supporting early literacy.
🗣 Rhymes
Nursery rhymes and patterned chants help children hear syllables and sounds, an important foundation for reading.
✂️ Fine Motor Skill Activities
Hands-on activities that strengthen the small muscles in the hands that are needed for writing and classroom tasks such as:
-
Cutting with safety scissors
-
Tracing letters or shapes
-
Coloring
-
Gluing
-
Simple crafts
Story Time helps children build confidence, independence, listening skills, and early academic foundations—all in a playful, supportive environment.
